They say It’s Your Birthday! (and you’re going to have a good time)

You may hear a rendition of the Beatles famous “Birthday” song rocking at Hilton Head’s Celebration Park this September as the town marks its 40th birthday, the official date the island was incorporated as a municipality. In conjunction, Hilton Head will also celebrate the 360th Anniversary of the sighting of the island by another famous Brit, English explorer Captain William Hilton.

In honor of these milestones, the Town of Hilton Head Island has planned a series of events – the 360/40 CELEBRATION – to pay tribute to the Island’s history, ecology, culture, and people. The month-long commemoration kicked off in August with a community picnic, runs through September 17th, and includes events such as the 360/40 Celebration of Gullah Culture September 10th, Chalk the Walk on September 13th, History Tours all month, and an Art Lecture on the historic “Round Table” of notable artists who have called the island home.

In addition to numerous unique experiences designed to honor the Island’s rich natural, cultural, and historic resources, live music at various island venues, including the beautiful new 10- acre, $14 million Celebration Park, will take center stage.

The Hilton Head Island Jam 2023 Songwriter Festival is slated for September 14- 17 and features live performances, intimate jam sessions, informative workshops and community concerts by some of the biggest names in music. The performances will take place at popular venues around the island including The Jazz Corner, Coligny Theatre, Liberty Oak, Lincoln and South, Red Fish, Big Bamboo, Poseidon Roof Top, The Boardroom, The Bank, Fish and the Westin’s Ocean Lounge. From Grammy winners, to CMA chart toppers, Nashville regulars, Billboard favorites and local celebrities, the 2023 Songwriter Festival will be the highly anticipated finale to the town party. Watch for performances by Dean Alexander, Dylan Altman, Steve Dorff, Tiffany Ashton, Angie Aparo, Sara Burns, Cranford Hollow, Sherrie Austin, Jevon Daly and Sarah Buxton, among others. For a grand finale on September 16th at Celebration Park, performances by songwriters from the Hilton Head Island Jam Songwriter Festival will open for special guest performers LOCASH. Formerly known as the LoCash Cowboys, this songwriter duo features Chris Lucas and Preston Brust. They originally formed in 2008 and debuted at No.1 on the Billboard charts in October 2016 with their hit song “I Love This Life.” Gates opening at 6pm and music begins at 7pm.
