Ian Duncan, founder and owner of the Grind Coffee Roasters in Bluffton, South Carolina, is a transplant from Wichita, Kansas. Following a formal education in landscape design and maintenance he moved to Bluffton and managed several large, commercial properties in the area. In 2009, Ian became a barista at a local coffee shop and developed an interest and aptitude for roasting coffee. He won several awards for taste and roast consistency and placed in the top 30 in the National 2016 Roasters’ Competition. The Grind was awarded Small Business of the Year in 2018 and B.O.B. (Best of Bluffton) coffee shop.

The Grind opened in 2016. Thanks to his thorough knowledge and experience roasting coffee and a keen insight into the local market, Ian positioned the company as a wholesale, retail and private label roaster. He provides coffee for individual customers, coffee shops, restaurants and businesses a full complement of services – including producing private label beans.
