About Me
Andy Twisdale has been an area resident since 1971 and was a graduate of the inaugural Leadership Hilton Head’s class of 1986. He was selected as the 1998 and 2013 Realtor of the Year and elected President of the Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors in both 2000 and 2006. He served on the Board of Directors of the Hilton Head Area Association of REALTORS from 1995 to 2009 and currently serves as a RPAC Board of Trustee for the South Carolina Realtors Association, 2010 to present. Along with being a two-time Realtor of the Year recipient, Andy has also received the Realtor Service Award, 1995-2014 and was recently named South Carolina’s Realtor Advocate in 2013 for his tireless efforts in equating South Carolina’s housing insurance inequity.
Andy’s hometown is Enfield, North Carolina and he attended East Carolina University. He has lived on Hilton Head Island for over 40 years and in Hilton Head Plantation since 1988. He is married to Gail Twisdale, recently retired as a Literacy Specialist with the Hilton Head International Baccalaureate Elementary School, the 2001 Teacher of the Year and a 2004 Sue West Teacher of the Year award recipient.
Andy believes in giving back. As a result, his community involvement includes being a member of the Second Helpings Board of Directors, the American Cancer Relay for Life Committee, Co-Chair and then Chair of the United Way Hilton Head Campaign, also serving on the Board of Directors of the Beaufort County United Way of the Lowcountry for four years and as a volunteer for twelve consecutive years. Andy was a twenty-seven year member of the Board of Directors of the Hilton Head Hospitality Association and served on the Association’s Hilton Head Wine and Food Festival Steering Committee, 2008-2009. Andy served on the Leadership Hilton Head/Bluffton Board of Regents from 2003 to 2007 and continues his membership in the Leadership Hilton Head Alumni Association, 2000-2014. He served on the Hilton Head Island Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2007 through 2012. He chaired the Chamber’s Business Education Partnership Committee during 2009-2011 and served as Chairman of the South Carolina Competitive Alliance for 2013. Andy has received numerous vocational awards and was recognized as an Outstanding National School Volunteer. His hobbies and interests include food, cooking and politics.
